Where it all started
The Beginning
Emzotech Ltd was started by the previous owner John Jones, the name is linked to the name of his daughters. John built up the business from 2016 to 2022 and provided Water jetting association approved training across the UK for a number of different clients and industries. John was also instrumental in evolving the WJA into the organization as we know it today.
In 2022, John was looking to retire or at least slow down into retirement and at about the same time I was seeking a change to my role I help with a top tier industrial services company. Coincidence played a major part then as John and I had worked together previously for another top tier industrial services company and had kept in touch over the years since.
I called John to see if he was potentially looking to employ any qualified WJA trainers and during the conversation, the seed was sown for me buying the business outright and John moving on to other things.
Building on a strong foundation
The Evolution
2022
Emzotech Ltd changes hands, with the original name, reputation and commitment to quality training carried forward into a new chapter.
2023
With John’s support during the transition, the business quickly established itself under new ownership and continued to grow its client base.
2024
Training expanded beyond the UK, while Emzotech continued to deliver WJA-approved training and industry expertise to clients across a growing range of sectors.
2025
A busy year saw demand reach a point where courses and opportunities had to be turned away – making it clear that the time was right to think bigger.
2026
The launch of Emzotech North Ltd brings Gary on board, creating greater flexibility and coverage across the UK, with international capability to match.
Today
Two experienced trainers, almost 70 years of combined industry experience, and a shared ambition to keep delivering quality training, honest advice and real-world expertise.

The Expansion
A guy who I had worked with previously out in Azerbaijan had managed to get his WJA training qualification’s and was working free lance for another provider. Gary and myself had kept in touch and indeed, he had covered a few courses for me during busy periods allowing me to keep my customers happy and compliant.
After a few conversations and many hours, days, weeks of thinking, we decided to take the plunge and set up Emzotech North Ltd to support the existing Emzotech Ltd business and as Gary is based in Scotland, and I am based in the north of England, this is allowing us to offer more flexibility across the UK and beyond.
Both Gary and myself have worked abroad on the tools and in management roles so we know what is required to get results for clients out there in the wider world.
About the Trainers
Anthony Quinn
I have over 40 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry, with extensive hands-on, supervisory and technical experience across offshore and onshore specialist cleaning operations.
As a WJA-accredited trainer, I deliver all current WJA training modules to City & Guilds and WJA UK standards, and can also carry out NVQ-style competency assessments in the field, bringing extensive practical experience to the training and development of personnel.
Gary Cochrane
I have over 30 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry, with extensive hands-on, supervisory and management experience across all sectors of specialist water jetting, both in the UK and internationally.
As an approved WJA trainer, I deliver all current WJA-accredited training modules to City & Guilds and WJA UK standards, bringing a wealth of practical industry knowledge and experience to the training and development of personnel.

The Future
With myself and Gary heading these businesses we are more than capable of building up a client base that will justify another company based further South possibly. But for as long as we are enjoying the training life, we will keep at it because we genuinely get pleasure from the training delivery and a lot of our clients make use of our almost 70 years industry experience to get some free advice on current or planned projects. Advice is free whether we are given work on the back of it or not.
